Marty Veale to Step Down as Head Coach

 Semco Northland Men's NPC

Head Coach of the Northland NPC Semco Taniwha, Marty Veale, is stepping down from his position. Northland Rugby accepted his resignation this week. While the union are sad to see him leave, we appreciate the development, progression and new ideas Marty has executed during his time as Head Coach. Marty is leaving his role due to personal circumstances.

Cameron Bell, CEO at Northland Rugby, said “from Northland Rugby’s perspective we respect Marty’s decision, and we know it was a very hard one for him to make. We are disappointed but we are appreciative of the advancements Marty has made in terms of growing our high-performance space with both NPC and FPC athletes. It will be a gap for us to fill but we have some exciting prospects in play.”

“We wish Marty all the best for the future and thank him very much for all that he has done for Northland Rugby. To all our fans and supporters out there, trust us. We will make sure that we have a solution that does us proud for 2023 and beyond. We’ve got great momentum and we look to build on that as we go forwards.”

Marty joined the team as Head Coach in December 2023, his tenure as Head Coach follows a successful stint as Assistant Coach with the Northland Semco Taniwha in 2022 – the year that saw the team reach the quarter finals.

Marty will officially step down from his role on 19th May, and we will provide updates on replacements as soon as we are able to.
